City Manager

The City Manager (CM) position was created by Ordinance and is appointed by the City Council. The CM functions as the chief administrative officer of the city and serves at the pleasure of the City Council. The CM works closely with the Mayor and City Council by identifying priorities, by providing timely and accurate reports and information, and by making recommendations on current and future issues. The CM, with emphasis on community, service, and fiscal prudence, is responsible for achievement of goals, implementation of policies, enforcement of regulations and ordinances, effective operation of all City departments, and satisfactory delivery of all municipal services as directed by the Mayor and City Council. The CM, along with Senior Management Staff, is responsible for professional leadership and direction for the day-to-day operations of Karnes City…”the Epicenter of the Eagle Ford”.

City Secretary

The City Secretary is responsible for maintaining the official records of the City of Karnes City, posting all official notices, preparing agendas and supporting materials, recording the minutes of the City Council meetings, and assisting City Council as needed. This position also serves as the City Elections Officer, and Records Management Officer.

City Council minutes are located under the “Public Records” tab. Other City documents may be obtained or viewed by submitting a Request for Public Information Form to the City Secretary’s Office. The request must be in writing and signed by the requestor; however, you may submit the request in any written form.

Requests for Public Information are filled within 10 working days. If records cannot be furnished within 10 working days, the requestor is notified by the City Secretary as to when such records will be available.

The City Secretary’s Office coordinates the posting of agendas and minutes for all other Municipal Boards, Commissions, and Committees, and the Office accepts applications from those wishing to serve on Committees.
