New Customers who would like to establish an account with the City of Karnes City for water, sewer, and garbage are required to appear in person during normal business hours. Customer must be at least 18 years of age with a photo ID.

A deposit of $125 is required for residential customers using water and/or sewer services. The deposit may be waived if the service is to be provided for clean-up purposes for no longer than a two-week period. A deposit of $250 is required for standard commercial customers. A deposit of $500.00 is required for multiple unit commercial customers such as, but not limited to, Hotels, Motels, Lodges, RV Parks, Apartment Complexes, Man-Camps. If either classification of commercial customer is subject to cutoff due to non-pay, service will not be restored until a new deposit requirement equal to the past and currently due monthly bills is met.

The deposit can be made with cash, check, money order, or Visa/Master Card.

Customers who wish to cancel or disconnect services with the City of Karnes City may do so by telephone or by visiting the office in person during normal business hours. When disconnecting services the deposit will be applied to the final bill. It is very important to provide a forwarding address in order for the final bill or refund to be delivered promptly.

If at any time the water, sewer or garbage service has been suddenly interrupted and you do not know the cause, please call the City of Karnes City Utility Billing Department at 830-780-3422 during normal business hours and the Sheriff’s Department at 830 780-3931 after five, on weekends and holidays. When water services have been discontinued for non-payment, the full amount of the bill plus a $30 reconnect fee must be paid before service is reinstated.

Customers can come into the City Hall during normal business hours or call by phone to the City of Karnes City Utility Billing Department at 830-780-3422 to report water leaks, sewer back-ups, water quality problems, and any other issues that would involve the City.

Customers are billed monthly for water, sewer and garbage service. Payment is due no later than the 15th of each month. After the 15th a 10% penalty will be assessed on the balance. If payment has not been received by the 25th your service will be disconnected. Additionally, there will be a reconnect fee to have your service reinstated.

The City of Karnes City recognizes that customers may have difficulty with the full payment of utility services on some occasions. Each customer is allowed two extensions to be granted within each calendar year with the following provisions: Customers are to have made payment of half the balance due before disconnection of the service occurs and have signed an agreement that the remaining balance will be paid by the end of the month. Failure to complete the terms of the agreement subjects the customer to interruption of services and charges related thereto.

The City of Karnes City offers electronic bank drafting service for monthly water bill payments. This can be arranged at no additional cost. Customers will have to provide a void check or a deposit slip. Customers have the option to have their utility bill drafted on the 4th or 15th of each month.

Payments can be made by cash, check, money order, and/or a cashier’s check made out to the City of Karnes City. Payment can be mailed and/or dropped off during business hours. City Hall does have a night drop that also may be utilized. Payment may also be made by phone or in person with a Visa/Master Card in the name of the person making the payment.
